【Summary】This seminar is organized in commemoration of the publication of the Chinese version of Keun Lee’s book,Schumpeterian Analysis of Economic Catch-up(2013, Cambridge Univ Press), which was awarded the 2014 Schumpeter Prize. Prof. Lee will introduce the main argument of the book with reference to technological catch-up and the national innovation system in China, in comparison with Korea. Then, he will also discuss his recent paper (2016, Int J. Tech Management) comparing Huawei with Ericsson, which adopt the same patent-citation data analysis method used in his early paper comparing Samsung with Sony (JAPE, 2010). A brief discussion of catch-up in 5 sectors in China will also be made, relying on his paper forthcoming inCambridge J of Region, Economy and Society(2017), co-authored with Professors, Gao Xudong and Li Xibao.
